What is Fiscal Sponsorship?

Fiscal sponsorship is a legal and financial arrangement where a nonprofit organization helps individuals or groups raise funds for projects that align with its mission. Through this partnership, the nonprofit allows the sponsored project to use its tax-exempt status, enabling donors to make tax-deductible contributions.

By working with Black Film Space, you can use our 501(c)(3) status to accept tax-deductible donations, helping you to create opportunities to attract donors and achieve your fundraising goals effectively.

How It Works

  1. You fundraise for your project under our nonprofit’s 501(c)(3) status.

  2. Donors receive tax-deductible receipts for their contributions.

  3. We handle the administrative tasks, including processing donations, issuing receipts, and maintaining financial records for your project.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for our fiscal sponsorship program, your project must meet the following criteria:

  • Fundraising Goal: Your project must aim to raise at least $25,000.

  • Mission Alignment: The project should align with our mission and values, contributing to a charitable, educational, or cultural purpose.

  • Nonprofit Compliance: All funds must be used exclusively for nonprofit-compliant activities. Funds cannot be used for personal expenses or activities that do not align with nonprofit purposes.

  • United States Based: Your project must be based in the United States We are unable to sponsor projects operating exclusively outside of the U.S. due to compliance with nonprofit regulations and oversight requirements.
